We polish off new season arrivals with a fresh mani from Inco Studio!

The ‘Vessel’ collection arrives instore this Sunday. The highly anticipated second drop of three for the season. Familiar styles are reimagined in bold new colourways and new silhouettes pair nostalgic shapes with modern fabrications and the brands signature pale gold detailing.

But it’s the colour palette we are most excited about… They say colours make you happy, so we say ‘the brighter the better!’  The tones of the Vessel collection explore the coastline surrounding the Aegean Sea.  Natural clay, and sun-drenched chalky tones have us dreaming of a Summer in Santorini. The season hero hue, blue is lovingly coined ‘Aegean’ (where would love to be taking a dip!) paralleled with bright magenta, like the beautiful bougainvillea peppered along the cobble stoned streets.

We’ve paired up with Inco Studio, the best in the business, to revel in new season tones, and trends. We are In Good Company (see what we did there?) with the team of hair stylists and nail technicians. They know what’s good before its cool and have built a reputation on creating a welcome, inspiring space with bespoke treatments that’ll have you counting down ‘til your next appointment.

We explore various trends such as magenta ombre, white matte with an iridescent sheen, and ocean blue and clay tones, like refractured rock – playful and electric, there’s something for everyone.

Variations on moody grey, nudes, and glossy navy tend to circulate with the seasons. But the accompanying nail-art designs this year are far less predictable — and feel like a breath of fresh air during this strange back-to-school season of continued social distancing and working from home.

For Saben, Inco designed a magenta ombre manicure, matte white with iridescent cracking, ocean blues and clay tones like the sea and refractured rock our pallet is drawn from.

WOMEN IN BUSINESS | MEET ARTIST CARMEL VAN DER HOEVEN
WOMEN IN BUSINESS | MEET ARTIST CARMEL VAN DER HOEVEN

Carmel is unpretentious, down to earth and effortlessly cool. When we meet her at Turua Gallery she is nonchalant about her recent sold out show, instead, in true artist form she can see only what she would change about each painting. We were intrigued to find out more about the artist and mother behind the paintings. We hope you enjoy this Q+A with Carmel.

Nestled in the beautiful suburb of St Heliers you will find Turua Gallery, a relaxed and intimate space showcasing a curated collection of contemporary New Zealand art. In July we visited the gallery to photograph our latest collection Wild Garden against the backdrop of sold out show 'In Contrast' by artist Carmel Van der Hoeven.

For Saben founder and designer Roanne Jacobson, each season is an opportunity to create a new collection of leather handbags, wallets and accessories inspired by seasonal hues. We sit down with Roanne to discuss the inspiration behind the Wild Garden Collection.
