It would be fair to say that the clever chaps at Captains of Industry have nailed it. I feel a bit behind the eight-ball seen as these boys have been blogged about all over the show; BUT they totally deserve the hype. 4 days in Melbourne and this is the spot that stuck in my mind. More than a coffee spot – it is a lifestyle destination. Nestled down a laneway and up a rickety flight of stairs in the heart of the CBD, ‘Captains’ is a cafe, an outfitter AND a barber shop – a true Melbourne collaboration. Whilst it’s "hipster" appeal can’t be ignored, what makes Captains of Industry truly special and admirable is that is based on practical skills and good old fashioned craftsmanship! Whilst sipping a perfectly brewed flat white I could perve in on the gentlemen having a  traditional cut throat shave, the tailor working on a bespoke suit and the young man commissioning a pair of custom shoes from the in house bookmakers. I was momentarily transformed into an era that still appreciates quality and workmanship. Were the gentlemen are dapper and perfectly groomed - even the coffee guy was crush-worthy!
